In early April 2013, Transparency International – Bulgaria together with seven leading Bulgarian non-governmental organizations undertook a civil society campaign for monitoring of the elections for MPs in the 42nd National Assembly.

The monitoring was carried out by 31 monitoring teams, which conducted monitoring of the pre-election campaign and during the Election Day on the territory of all constituencies countrywide. The effort was implemented in cooperation with a broad coalition of 23 non-governmental organizations, active on national, local and regional levels.

The monitoring was carried out using a methodology, developed by Transparency International – Bulgaria in 2009 the main focus of which is the compliance with established TI standards for the organization of the electoral process and which constitute guarantees for free and fair voting of the citizens.
